STATIONS OF THE CROSS

During Lent, the SONRISE Breakfast men will offer The Stations of the Cross for the Trinity family every Friday morning at 6:30 PM in the Nave, February15th – March 22nd. The Stations of the Cross is a traditional liturgical devotion commemorating the last day of Jesus’ life. The devotion originated with pilgrims in Jerusalem retracing the traditional steps Jesus is believed to have followed on Good Friday. Since not all Christians could make pilgrimages to Jerusalem, however, the custom arose of replicating the devotion in congregational and individual settings, often with images or carvings on the walls of a church to commemorate each of the traditional 14 stations (or stops) on the Way of the Cross.

FAMILY PROMISE AT TRINITY

Family Promise is coming to Trinity from February 3rd through 10th. Family Promise is a program for area families facing homelessness, helping them achieve sustainability and restore personal dignity. Family Promise staff help them find employment, affordable housing, and transportation. For our part, Trinity hosts the families for a week, several times each year. For the week these families stay with us, we provide shelter, meals, and compassion. The program provides that extra little push to help many local families get back on their feet. It’s a great opportunity to share God’s love, and we welcome your help in this rewarding ministry! Please consider helping – either by preparing and serving an evening meal, staying over a night as a chaperone, or driving the van to and from the family day center in Conroe. For more information, contact Stu Thompson, 281.651.5154.

NEW IN THE PEW

“Awkward.” That describes how you may feel during a service when you pass the collection plate without dropping anything in because you gave online, or you gave on a schedule that isn’t weekly. In light of the current trending towards online giving options, the Stewardship Formation Ministry has made available in the pews “online offering” cards. If you feel the desire, you can place one in the collection plate as a symbol of your online giving. Online giving allows the church a consistent income. This is especially important over summer months, where plate offerings and traditional commitments may wane, creating a financial crunch as the church’s monthly expenses actually increase. All contributions, no matter the format (time; talent; treasure in any form and at any time) are blessed and welcomed all times. There is no requirement for you to put the card into the plate. The cards are intended for those to wish it, a physical representation of participation. If you would like more information on stewardship, or directions on how to set up an online giving account through your bank or through PayPal, please view www.TrinityWoodlands.org/stewardship.
